Customer Usage, Safety & Liability
Introduction
At Kandleco, we prioritize the safety and enjoyment of our customers when using our products. This policy outlines important guidelines and safety measures to ensure proper candle usage. By purchasing our products, you are confirming that you have read, acknowledged and agreed to adhere to these guidelines and will be liable for any misuse of said products.
Candle Usage Guidelines
Never Leave Unattended: Always supervise lit candles. Never leave a burning candle unattended, especially around children, pets, or flammable materials.
Keep Away from Flammable Items: Place candles on stable, heat-resistant surfaces, away from combustible materials such as curtains, paper, and decorations.
Proper Ventilation: Ensure the room is well-ventilated while burning candles, especially in enclosed spaces.
Trim the Wick: Trim the wick to approx. 5mm before lighting to prevent excessive smoke and uneven burning.
Avoid Drafts: Keep candles away from drafts, as they can cause uneven burning and excessive smoke.
Extinguish Properly: Use a snuffer or a gentle breath to extinguish candles. Avoid blowing out candles to prevent hot wax splatters.
Candle Safety Measures
Use Candle Holders: Place candles in sturdy, non-combustible holders that can catch any dripping wax.
Child and Pet Safety: Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
Avoid Overcrowding: Avoid placing candles too closely together, as they can heat each other and become a fire hazard.
Check for Cracks: Always inspect candles for cracks, damage, or uneven surfaces before lighting.
Burn in Intervals: Standard advice is to burn candles for no more than 3-4 hours at a time to prevent overheating, however, we typically recommend burning intervals of 1.5hrs at a time to be extra safe and avoid the wick from mushrooming and causing things like black smoke/soot.
Caution with Containers: Exercise caution with container candles, as the container may become hot during use.
Extinguish Before Sleep: Extinguish all candles before going to sleep or leaving a room.
Wax Melt Usage Guidelines
Use with Approved Warmers: Only use wax melts with approved wax warmers or melters designed for this purpose.
Follow Manufacturer's Instructions: Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for your wax warmer or melter.
Proper Ventilation: Ensure the room is well-ventilated while using wax melts, especially in enclosed spaces.
Unattended Use: Never leave a wax warmer or melter unattended while in operation.
Child and Pet Safety: Keep wax warmers and melted wax out of reach of children and pets.
Avoid Overheating: Do not overfill the wax warmer with wax melts. Use the recommended amount as indicated by the manufacturer.
Wax Melt Safety Measures
Wax Temperature: Be cautious when handling melted wax. It can be hot. Allow melted wax to cool and solidify before handling.
Unplug After Use: Always unplug, turn off or extinguish the wax warmer properly after use.
Avoid Water Contact: Do not add water to the wax warmer or melter. This can cause splattering and/or an adverse reaction with the ingredients in the wax and may damage the unit or cause unexpected combustion.
Proper Cleaning: Clean the wax warmer or melter regularly according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Candle & Wax Melt Storage
Store Safely: Store candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Keep Away from Children: Store candles out of the reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion or misuse.
Emergency Procedures for Candles & Wax Melts
Fire Safety: In case of a wax melt or candle-related fire, extinguish the candle/wax melter if safe to do so and use an appropriate fire extinguisher or call emergency services.
Disposal for Candles & Wax Melts
Dispose Safely: Dispose of candles and melts properly by letting them cool and solidify before disposing of them in accordance with your local regulations.
